The difference between laser sensor and photoelectric sensor

1. Principle

The photoelectric sensor realizes the control by converting the change of light intensity into the change of electric signal. The laser sensor first emits laser pulses from a laser emitting diode aimed at the target. The laser light is scattered in all directions after being reflected by the target. Part of the scattered light returns to the sensor receiver, and is imaged on the avalanche photodiode after being received by the optical system and converted into corresponding electrical signals.

2. the light source

The light source of the photoelectric sensor is visible red light and infrared light, but the laser sensor uses laser technology to measure the sensor. The difference here is that the red light and infrared light have large spots, which will increase with the distance, which is not conducive to detecting small objects. The light source of the laser sensor is laser, and the same is the light source. The light source will change with the distance. Changing the size, the difference between the laser and the ordinary laser is that the laser spot will be very small. As the distance is farther, the spot will expand, but it is a very subtle change that is invisible to the naked eye, so people usually call it a laser. The light source will not expand.

3. Application

Laser sensors are mainly used in object detection, in place, positioning, counting, concave and convex, positive and negative functions, and are widely used in packaging, electronics and other industries. Photoelectric sensors are used for level detection, liquid level control, product counting, width discrimination, speed detection, fixed-length cutting, hole recognition, signal delay, automatic door sensing, color mark detection, punching and shearing machines, and safety Protection and many other fields. In addition, the concealment of infrared rays can also be used as an anti-theft warning in banks, warehouses, shops, offices and other occasions where it is needed.

4. Cost

Laser sensor is also a kind of photoelectric sensor, because the light source is different, the manufacturing cost is different, so the laser sensor and the photoelectric sensor are distinguished.

laser sensor

A sensor that uses laser technology for measurement. It is composed of laser, laser detector and measuring circuit. The laser sensor is a new type of measuring instrument. Its advantages are that it can realize non-contact long-distance measurement, fast speed, high precision, large range, strong anti-light and electrical interference ability.

photoelectric sensor

Photoelectric sensor is a device that converts light signals into electrical signals. Its working principle is based on the photoelectric effect. The photoelectric effect means that when light is irradiated on some material, the electrons of the material absorb the energy of the photon and the corresponding electric effect occurs. According to the different phenomena of photoelectric effect, the photoelectric effect is divided into three categories: external photoelectric effect, internal photoelectric effect and photovoltaic effect. Photoelectric devices include phototubes, photomultiplier tubes, photoresistors, photodiodes, phototransistors, and photocells. The performance and characteristic curves of optoelectronic devices are analyzed.
